King of the bartop booze skill games is Booz-Barometer, launched in the mid-1950s by Morris, Illinois’ Northwestern Corp., best known for gum vendors. Booz-Barometer set the standard for fun intoxication measurement: negotiate the twisty expanse without touching the bar, and you are judged sober. Anything short of that, a bell rings — similar to the Ideal game Operation, except for adult drinkers. As the silkscreened artwork says, “HIC.”
