In 1950, Coca-Cola continued their serving tray evolution with “Menu Girl.” Once again, the contour bottle is prominently in the foreground, the young woman earning her nickname because of the artist having placed the soda fountain menu in front of her. The tray border is a vast departure, with numerous sporting depictions (part of Coca-Cola’s emerging thematic brand connections to the world of sport), the new “Have a Coke” slogan, and “Thirst knows no season” banner. Quite a visually interesting and busy tray, “Menu Girl” is a postwar design classic.
